Caboolture Family Haven Inc.

Caboolture Family Haven (CFH) Inc. is a Public Benevolent Institution. Its committee is comprised of local community members who volunteer their time and expertise in a honorary capacity. It is a community based housing program funded by both the Australian and Queensland Governments. Our goal is to provide families who are at risk of homelessness, with accommodation, support and assistance to re-establish themselves within the community.

Common reasons for current or impending homelessness include:
  • Financial crisis including debts with the Department of Housing.
  • Not being eligible for a Bond Loan or rental assistance from the Department of Housing.
  • Having had previous problems with accessing private rentals.
  • Experiencing family problems such as domestic violence.
  • Where you are staying has become overcrowded.

We offer short-term transitional accommodation to families who need support to move back in to more permanent accommodation.

We do not provide emergency accommodation

Our accommodation does not require a bond, is usually unfurnished and rents are based on your family's income. We support you to seek affordable, secure long-term housing and respond to issues restricting you from accessing housing. We can provide referrals to other services that may also be able to assist you with a number of issues.

As part of our service you are required to work with our team to identify and address the issues and circumstances that contribute to your need for crisis housing.

Are you able to access our services?
Individuals and families with dependant children are welcome to apply if they are have difficulty finding suitable accommodation.

We do not provide accommodation to single people who do not have a dependant child living with them. People who are not eligible will be referred to an alternative service.

We usually have a wait-list for our services. The time from when you apply to being housed can vary depending on the availability of housing. We also take the following in to consideration:

  • How long you have been on our wait-list;
  • Whether the available property suits your needs; and
  • The urgency of your situation and others on the wait-list.

Caboolture area residents have priority but applications will be taken outside the region. Not everyone can be housed and we assist people on the waiting list to explore alternatives.

How long can you stay?
Our funding is for transitional accommodation. Think of our service as a stepping-stone to something more permanent. Leases are limited to a maximum of six months and may only be extended in exceptional circumstances.

You can enquire over the phone or at our office between 9:00am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays).

You can drop into 50 Church Street, Caboolture, (off Morayfield Rd). Client Support Workers may not be available at all times so it is best to arrange an appointment. You may need to wait if you do not have an appointment.

Once you contact one of our team we will work out if CFH is right for you. If so, we will ask you in for an appointment with a Client Support Worker who will work with you to identify your needs.

After hours you can leave a voice message and we will get back to you.
